I am a former Police Officer in CA. My wife and I were in ******* May 1st. 2023 and it had been a long time since we were there and frankly we will never return as long as the State allows this type of activity to take place. While walking down Front street, employees from this business jumped out in front of my wife and I and started an argument immediately as we werent stopping to hear their sales pitch. I told the people that we are not interested and kept walking and the one male employee yelled back at me, I wasnt talking to you, cant your wife speak for herself we ignored this and kept walking and then the man said, she has a mouth on her, cant she speak? Is she def? are you a real man? In CA, this type of behavior falls under penal code **************************************************************************************************************************************************** **. If I were an Officer here and the same laws applied in HI, I would have placed him under arrest on the spot. He continued to yell at other pedestrians walking by as we stepped into the store next door to escape his barrage of argumentative insults. The employees in the store where we stopped were laughing in disbelief and told ** that so many people run into their store every day to escape his verbal abuse. There seems to be at least 3 different stores on Front st. Where this happens and local law enforcement really needs to step in. This in conjunction with at least 100 plus homeless everywhere, we will NEVER return to ******* and possibly after hearing that this same behavior is also elsewhere like ***************, we may never return to Maui. So sad that such a beautiful Island has turned into such a dump due to lack of governmental oversight and obvious poor management of law enforcement resources.
