I lived in an apartment managed by Charter Properties in San Francisco, CA for well over ten years. I auto payed my rent each month and was never late on my payments. I guess living in an apartment for over ten years is asking for trouble. It is clear to me now that Property Management wanted me out so they could increase rent (due to citywide rent control). To that end, I was slandered by ***** ******* Asset Manager who accused me of working with a 3rd party to steal packages from my next door neighbor because someone who had a key to the apartment building was in the hallway outside of my apartment, and apparently stole a package. They had the guy on video, but they still accused me! Karen even used Charter Property resources to send me a lawyer letter which after consulting with a lawyer of my own suggested that I need to answer the letter and deny all involvement (which I did). Well, I am not a litigious person, and decided to see this as a sign from God that I need to move out and into a better place (which I did). But that is not even why I am writing this review. By the way, after speaking with my other nice neighbors about the ordeal, they were absolutely horrified after hearing my experience and told me about their own negative experiences with this person. So, I don't think this is about me, but more about the person whom I'm speaking. Anyway, after securing a new place to live, I moved out and part of this process was cleaning the apartment from top to bottom. When I say, top to bottom, I mean it -- I cleaned every surface, the walls, all cabinets, the kitchen surfaces, the refrigerator inside and out, as well as the cubby where the refrigerator was placed -- I pulled it out and cleaned behind and so I could reach the place which was under it normally. I vacuumed the entire apartment, used cleaners on the walls, and removed all tape and marks. I also cleaned the bathroom and tub, toilet and bathroom cabinets, medicine cabinet, and the light housing above the bathroom mirror and the mirror itself. I worked hours and hours just cleaning. So you could imagine my disappointment when receiving my deposit in the mail weeks later, that they took out a $300 cleaning fee. So outrageous. I am the kind of person who couldn't leave an apartment in poor shape when I leave it, because that is the type of person I am, but in retrospect, I should have not cleaned it at all. I truly believe Karen did this because she is a vindictive person, and because she knew she could get away with it. All this after being a good tenant for over ten years and who always paid rent and was a quiet person who just wanted to be left alone. I hope this review helps anyone who may be considering moving into an apartment managed by this company, or especially this particular property manager.
