Read Complaint Details
Complaint: Solar Panels installed in a different configuration than promised. During our initial consultation on 5/11/2015 and 5/12/2015, Sun First's representative, **** ******, promised that the solar panels would be placed on our roof in only three specific locations and configuration, and would not be visible from the front of the house. On multiple occasions afterwards we emphasized our desire for the panels not to be visible from the front of the house. The number of the arrays changed from three to four months after we signed the agreement on 5/28/2015, and the final plans filed with the city were never sent to us for our approval. On the day the crew arrived to install the panels, 8/3/2015, they discovered they had measured the roof incorrectly and had to change the plans again resulting in what we had specifically discussed as a problem that we wanted to avoid from the very beginning. Even though we were told the panels would be placed the way they were shown on the initial city approved plans, the orientation of three of the four arrays was changed from the original city approved plans causing them to be visible when standing in front of the house. We were charged for assessment and plans that were significantly changed from the ones we had accepted, and were not provided with the configuration that had been promised to us for months prior, due to the Solar First's inability to accurately measure our roof on two separate occasions.
Desired Settlement: It is our position that since the final placement had so little to do with the initial plans and the final placement caused the panels to be visible from the front of the house, the assessment and planning fee should be refunded to us, and $1000 refund for placement that makes the solar panels visible from the front of our house.
