I'm very low income so the social workers at **** agreed to cover the cost of my rides home after spinal surgery. The hospital told me to arrange for the rides for a two-part surgery. Unfortunately Silver Ride required MY debit card number to make the reservation and then the hospital DID contact them to tell them to charge the hospital. I was told my card would not be charged, When I made the reservations I was told they didn't have a driver available for the second part of the surgery and they would contact me later in the week if they found someone. I never heard from them again. After the first part of the surgery the doctors kept me overnight and Silveride had no one available to pick me up so I was stranded. The hospital needed the bed so they gave me a taxi voucher. I have no doubt Silveride also charged the hospital. I never heard back from Silveride regarding the second part of the surgery a week later. I was recovering from the first surgery and after they failed me the first time I assumed they had no one available for the first surgery. They never tried to confirm the ride but later claimed they had had someone available. It was embarrassing for me to be given the taxi voucher so my neighbor took time off from work to pick me up after the second surgery. I NEVER WOULD HAVE ASKED him to pick me up if I had had any idea Silveride might have been able to pick me up. Then weeks later out of the blue SilverRide charged my card. I had to go to a food bank for the first time in my life. They are a horrible company.
