North Carolina Victim Tells BBB What Happened When She Wired Money for French Bulldog Puppy

Carol writes, "My husband and I ordered a 10 week old female French bulldog from what appeared to be a legitimate breeder in Baltimore MD. We live in Southport NC.

The breeder had pictures and descriptions of the puppies on the website. We sent him $500 by Walmart money gram. The breeder took the puppy to the airport on OCTOBER 24 and said he'd send us flight information. Later that morning we got an email from the shipper saying there was a new regulation saying we had to pay insurance fee of about $2000 to ship the puppy.

There were numerous typos and inconsistencies in the shippers email, which was suspicious in itself. The accompanying form was for a male black dog with a value much higher than our dog. After back and forth emails and trying to talk to a person whose primary language is not English to fix the discrepancy, he said the problem was fixed and we had to pay the fee to get the puppy.

We then sent a note to the breeder to cancel the puppy and send us back our money. He said he'd send us our money back after he picked the puppy up at the airport. We have not heard from him and the website is shut down."
