For Local Charities

BBB of Greater Maryland issues BBB Wise Giving Reports on local charities, mainly, in Western MD to the Eastern Shore. BBB will request that a charity participate in our program if:

  • The charity has been the subject of a recent request for information (i.e., inquiry) received by your BBB.
  • The charity has been the subject of a recent complaint received by your BBB, or BBB notes an increase in the charity’s programs and/or fundraising activities.

 

Charities that have received a request for information from your BBB should complete the Inquire About a Charity form. BBB also encourages charities to initiate the process on their own by submitting their information online.

 

Application for BBB Charity Accreditation

 

You will be asked to provide a few facts about your organization and select a password when you register your charity. We will review your registration information and, if applicable, will email you a separate link in order to complete the application online. The password you select when you register is the password you will use to gain access to the online Application for BBB Charity Accreditation.

 

Once you submit the Application for BBB Charity Accreditation, we’ll work with you to develop a BBB Wise Giving Report which will summarize basic facts about your governance, programs, finances, fundraising, and operations and show whether or not your charity meets our 20 Standards for Charity Accountability.

 

Please note that any information submitted by your organization will be used to complete a BBB Wise Giving Report.

 

For National Charities

If your organization is a national charity that solicits nationwide and wishes to be the subject of an Alliance report that will appear on give.org, you are in the right place. Our reports summarize basic facts about a charity's governance, programs, finances, fund raising and operations and show whether or not the subject charity meets the comprehensive Standards for Charity Accountability.

You will be asked to provide a few facts about your organization. You will also be asked to select a password-this is the password you will use to gain access to the online questionnaire once you are provided access to it. The Alliance staff will review this enrollment form, verify the information, and send you an email within about five business days that will enable you to begin using the online charity questionnaire.
