Additional Notes

Complaint Category: Improper or inferior service

Complaint: Keil Tree did NOT do the job that was requested and has continued harass us for final payment when the job was NOT completed as promised.
We hired Keil tree for the second time in 20 years. The first time was to removed trees in a retaining wall. They were requested to remove the entire tree stumps and all. They said they would return to remove the stumps and they never did. Because it was in a retaining wall planter and not an eyesore we let it go. Years later we returned to them for more work in the summer of 2012. This time we made sure that we expressed the roots had to be removed, it was causing pool and deck damage. They agreed. After the tree removal they were called because the stumps were NOT removed. The additional payment was withheld. Now they still have not removed the stumps and are threatening to sue us for nonpayment? This is the second time that they said they would do a complete job and the second time they didn't. Recently we had trees removed in another state a nd paid immediately because all the work was done. Keil has twice let us down, insult to injury is that now they are threatening us?

Initial Business Response
This is in response to the complaint you received about our service to one of our customers. My computer accounting records go back as far as June 1997. The first job Keil Tree did for this customer was in September of 2001. The service we preformed for her at that time was for the pruning of several trees. We did not remove a single tree so stumps could not have been as issue. She was happy and paid in full upon completion. In October of 2012 we removed 5 White Pine trees and pruned several others. The estimate clearly stated that the stumps were to be cut low, "cut stumps low" . An estimate to grind the stumps below grade was not included in the estimate. The stumps are always listed separately because a different crew with different equipment is necessary. She did make one payment but refused to pay the balance. We made several attempts to resolve this with her, first by asking if we could come out and see if we could get the stumps any lower with a different saw. She was not open to this. We also offered her a discount of $500.00 and again she was not open to that offer either. Our last option is to go to court for payment. All documentation will be sent

Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The trees would never have needed to be removed if not for the root damage being done to our pool and deck. They actually provided coverage from a neighbors yard and privacy. Keil did this same thing when we had work done in our retaining wall. They said, "we will return to remove the stumps." they never did. So when we rehired them in 2012 we made sure the estimator understood the stumps had to be removed. There is no contract and my husband and I both own ****** ***** yet they have omitted him. The work was not done to our specifications not just once but twice now. We no longer have trust and faith in them. There is an estimator and a gal in the office. No one came by to oversee the work or communicate whether we were happy with the job. We immediately called to complain.

Final Business Response
Communication was attempted many times.

The job was completed as the estimated stated per the judge in ********* ****** on February 7, 2014.

To settle the case a compromise was made giving them a $500.00 discount and a payment plan of 8 months for the remaining balance of $1900.00

Complaint Resolution: Company addressed the complaint issues. The consumer failed to acknowledge acceptance to BBB.
