Complaint
On 7/25/15 Budget Movers,Inc was contracted to move my furniture and belongings to my new residence. During the move my new sofa was severely damaged
The movers made no effort to take basic precautions to cover the sofa, remove the footings and lift rather than drag the sofa. The upholstered area near the left front footing is torn, parts for one of the footings is missing and there were paint streaks in several areas. The support bars under the sofa for the sofa bed are also bent. After several discussions and text messages the company for txt said they would send someone to remove and repair it. On 7/27/15 a repairman came and was able to remove most of the paint streaks. They did not repair the upholstery or repair the footing. The bars underneath are still bent. They left $25 ( I did not ask for this) and indicated the small print in their contract released them from all damages.

Desired Settlement
I asked them to repair or replace the sofa. The sofa was purchased in June 2015. I sent them an email today.

Business Response
We have been in contact with the customer on numerous occasions regarding this complaint of some minor damages done to a sofa. A representative was sent out to the home on 07/29/15 to look at the damage, and attempted to make repairs. He did his best to repair every issue raised. The customer was aware of the tight conditions in which the sofa was being moved into, and has been pointed to our contract terms and conditions numerous times regarding the contractual liability exclusion. While the movers never intend to damage anything, certain conditions can make this unavoidable. The customer was aware of those conditions, and did sign our contract prior to and at the end of the move. We took some responsibility for the minor damages caused, and paid some monetary compensation in the form of $25, as well as some repairs completed. However, the company feels that her move conditions were a big cause of why the damages occurred in the very first place which made damages unavoidable. The sofa was extremely large, awkward and heavy. The sofa had to be forced through some very tight conditions. The fabric was fixed as best as possible, paint streaks were removed, and we are currently attempting to locate a new foot as it was misplaced during the move. A copy of my communications with the customer thus far is attached. We have gone above and beyond to satisfy the customer in this case and we do not feel that we are contractually obligated to do anything else. I would also like to point out that dealing with this customer has not been an easy task especially since every other word out of her mouth is a curse word. Not a friendly person at all.

Complaint
Paid for service that was shoddy at best.
On April 30 I had a move scheduled from 2-4. I want to start off by saying that I don't have a problem with what the movers moved it is that they did not finish the job but charged me extra money and the response that was given from ***** **** was not only unprofessional but also deplorable.

I scheduled this move months in advance and spoke to Mr. **** at great length about the items I would need transported and when moving day came the movers were shocked to see what I had and stated that this was more than what was stated on their paperwork. Now their professionalism or the lack thereof was disturbing but I needed a job done so I allowed them to continue which I would later regrettably pay for in every sense of the word. From the start one of the movers who was the mouthpiece for the trio I'm assuming kept saying we can't take all this and I told him I am not responsible for the miscommunication that occurred through your company. It appeared from the start of this move this company was out to get over. The whole move I am going back and forth with this guy and I said look you do the two hours I was originally quoted but I am not paying for extra time if you haven't finished the job such as putting things where they belonged, putting what needed to be assembled together. There were three guys only two did most of the work and the dude looked high I even said to him are you sleepy do you need to leave and he didn't like that I said that. It was getting close to my two hour time so I told them to unload the stuff in the living room and just go but when it came time to pay there was an extra hundred dollars on there. Now my husband overheard them talking when I wasn't there about lets get this money loudly and when I go back to my storage unit to clean up I see a ton of stuff left and I couldn't fit it all in my vehicle so I immediately send ***** an email telling him what happened and the response I was given was awful. I incurred an extra month charge from the storage facility and will have to rent a uhaul to get my remaining items. I can forgive the unprofessionalism but paying for incomplete service and being verbally assaulted when I try to seek a resolution I cannot. I think it is only fair that I recover the cost to pay the extra month I have to now pay. It was bad enough that they unloaded everything in my living room and I will have to put things where they belong as well as put things together but I was quoted a price from another moving company for a little less and it included all these things.

Desired Settlement
I am seeking 150 dollars of my money back. I understand that there was a partial service performed so I am seeking part of the monies I paid for the service that was not performed to completion.

Business Response
Customer was assessed a 3-man hourly rate with a 2-hour minimum (based on an itemized list provided by customer from filling out our online quote form). Movers had stated to their foreman that many other items were moved that was not listed. There was also a little bit of travel distance from the pick-up location to the extra stop address which was a storage with an elevator. Simply stated, the move took extra time and the 2-hour minimum went over by 1-hour. The customer's email to the company was taken as aggressive and threatening as the customer stated that she was cancelling her credit card payment. Customer was emailed in return stating that there's nothing we can do for her if she was taking the route of cancelling payment. I suspect the only reason why the 3rd mover wasn't noticed by the customer as much as the other movers was because the movers had to move items out of a storage with an elevator at an extra stop. Customer had the movers stop there along the way to the final drop-off location. On the back of the contract service agreement there are terms/conditions which I would ask the BBB and the customer to review. Specifically paragraph 4 (last sentence). I would ask that the contract service agreement be upheld and honored under Maryland law. Furthermore, to offer or send out any kind of courtesy refund check for any amount at this point, after the customer had already threatened to cancel her credit card payment from the very start of complaint, would not seem wise for the company to even do so. I look forward to resolving this complaint in a professional manner.

Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
From the onset of my move the professionalism or the lack thereof was apparent and due to the incompetence of the company as a whole I incurred an extra month charge from my storage company for the items left behind and why should they get 450 dollars for a job not done to completion. I stated the importance of being COMPETELY moved out of my unit by the 30th and I did say I didn't have a problem paying for 5 hours or whatever was needed as long as the job was completed. I even had them just load everything in the living room I didn't require them to put items in their respective rooms/places but I got grief when I complained about having to pay out more money because your movers didn't do their job completely! I can't stand for the way it was handled because if your goal was to handle this professionally that's what would have been done from the start. Also I want my receipt for what I paid for.

Complaint
I use Budget moving services on 10/11/14 services was poor and slow. Which cause me being over charge in amount of 260.00 additional to the price.
On 09/ 03/ 2014, I hired movers with Budget Movers Inc. at P.O. Box *** *********** Maryland XXXXX. I called to get a quote on a move for a two bedroom apartment with one bedroom set, 60inch television, 4 mattress 20 boxes and three television.( which one television is missing) I spoke to Mr. ***** **** he gave me a quote of 390.00 and I gave them a 100.00 deposited with my **** of ******* debit card. Unfortunately the day before the move the leasing office called and stated the condo that I would being transferred to was not ready for move in. I called Budget Movers back and spoke with Mr. **** and cancel the move for the next day 09/15/14 due to complications of the new condo. On 10/03/14 I called Budget movers back and spoke with Mr. **** again about using his moving services on 10/11/2014. The movers came at 8:20am and ask was I we ready and I stated yes. The movers then said OK we are going to prepare our truck. The movers came back about 9:00am to start the move. I am disappointed because I only moved around the corner in the same community complex, which was a transfer and was charged like I move across town. Budget mover's services wasn't professional or courteous, the movers were unorganized, didn't pay attention to detail (as in didn't read boxes to know were items should have been placed), and didn't work at a timely fashion. They were moving two small pillows at a time, one dresser draw at a time. I think called Budget Movers Inc. and spoke to Mr. **** and complain on the services that was being render. Mr. **** weren't compliant at all. Mr. **** first stated he didn't understand what my problem was, then he ended the conversation with the movers have to work this way because of the rain, Mr. **** was very unprofessional. I then got my two sons to start helping to expedite this move. I left and went to the new condo so that the movers could move the items in the new condo. I then went back to the old condo and found many items that were not moved. When I questioned the movers about the items the movers said that my son told them they didn't need to be moved. Which what really happen is they took all my items out my house and sat them in the hall way, then there weren't enough room in the truck because they were unorganized, the movers then put items left back in the house stating that everything was moved. Budget Moving Inc. movers cause me to pay for 2 extra hours in amount of 260.00. When calling the owner of Budget movers and spoke with Mr. **** for the second time he stated that he spoke with his workers and they are doing what they were supposed to do and my complaint was petty.

Desired Settlement
To resolve the problem I would appreciate a refund of some of my money to my **** of ******* charge card credit. I can provide copies of my records including receipts, contracts and bank statements. I look forward to you looking into this problem with Budget movers Inc.

Customer is simply mad because she had to pay more money for the move taking more time than she expected or wanted to pay. Our movers were not slow. There is a lot about this move that the customer is not conveying. For example, the customer was never charged with last minute rescheduling fees like we could have done each time she rescheduled at the last min. Dresser drawers were full and had to be carried separately due to how heavy the dressers were. The movers has to carry a lot of miscellaneous items and the customer did not have them properly packed ahead of time. The movers had stated that this was a difficult move to be on. If the move took more time it is because she had a good amount of stuff to be moved. Period. Like the customer stated, she had four beds, which should say something about the amount of items that got moved. I'm sure the beds had to be disassembled and reassembled. So one can only imagine how much other stuff there was to be moved. That's why there were several trips made in a 17' truck. Customer wasn't prepared for moving either (as is stated by the customer in this complaint) and that is why the movers couldn't start when they first arrived on time. If the customer wanted the movers to work for a certain amount of time in order to save money then it was up to her to state that to the movers or the crew leader during the course of the moving process. It has been over 6-weeks now since her move was completed and the customer never once reported that anything was missing to the company nor has the company ever received a written complaint for anything damaged or missing. According to the contract terms/conditions of the service agreement the customer had ten days after her move was done to send a complaint letter. Based on no claim letter ever received, a claim made for damages or anything missing through the BBB should be considered null/void. The company's contract service agreement must be upheld. Customer is not due any refund because the movers worked and did their job according to the customer's direction of how long she wanted them out there moving. Our minimum move price for 3-movers is $390 for the first two hours which includes the truck/equipment fee. Any time used after that the customer has to pay for (which is stated in the contract service agreement). The contract service agreement must be honored in this situation. It should also be noted that the customer changed her apartment conditions. Instead of the movers only moving the customer's belongings to the middle floor of her new apartment building it was actually changed to the top floor. Furthermore, the credit card company respected and honored our contract service agreement and no amount of money was refunded. I would also suspect that this is now the main reason why the BBB has been contacted. However, out of trying to be the best we can be in this situation we are prepared to refund the customer $75 as a courtesy.

Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not wish to accept the respond from Budget Movers Inc. I made my first compliant to them about their movers while they were still moving my items. The respond I got from Budget was very negative, when the movers started moving my items I could see their plan in action. It has been ongoing battle trying to get Budget to understand the movers that was send to me services were unacceptable. It has been more than 2 months that I have been communicating with Budget about a refund. My time is much too valuable for going after a company for $250.00, just because I don't want to pay. Budget contract states that I would be will be satisfied with their experienced, courteous and professional movers. This was not my experienced at all with Budget. I made a second attempt to dispute my charges with my bank of 250.00. Budge refuse to give me any of my money back. The response from Budget was again rude and negative. I am coming to you BBB to not only get a refund, but to show you how Budget Movers Inc. disrespect and fraud their customers. Budget Movers has been unprofessional and rude since they send their movers through my door. I call and explain how unhappy I was with the mover's services, and I got treated like I don't have any integrity. I moved three time this year. I have receipts for each move and it never cost more than 450.00 and I move a distance and made a stops at the storage. I don't have problems paying for services in fact when I disputed the charges I didn't dispute the whole amount just the portion that I was over charged, due to the unprofessional movers that was sent to move me. How can a person state what type of services a customer is getting if they are not there to evaluate the situation? A business should never treat their customer the way Budget has treated me. The problem with companies like Budget once the movers have moved your items, you have to pay them whatever they asked at the end, because you need your items in your home. This is where companies like this take advantage.

We scheduled a delivery and never turned on time and didn't complete moving.
We contacted this company and took the quote. After receiving the quote we contacted this company and listed all the items and confirmed. We also told the items condition and confirmed that they will dismantle from old house and assemble in new house (to address). They gave us time of 10 AM on 09/01/2013, but they never turned on 10 AM and we called couple of times to know the status. However never took our calls and after making some calls. They called me at 11 AM saying we will come at Noon. They came around Noon and shouted me on me saying you didn't list these items and we want another 75 dollars to move these. My husband was not in home, I was there with my 20 months baby and they were 3 people and they were used very harsh tone. I was very scary and my daughter was crying and they didn't listen what I was saying. They shouting like anything. I was trying to call their office to talk with person who talked with me previous day but one guy from out of 3 was told me that I'm the owner and I'll not listen if someone says in my office. So I told that if you're talking like that I don't want to your service. They were very scary and used very harsh tone while handling situation. They charged me 300 dollars already on my credit card previous day. I was very very disappointed with their service and my daughter was very scary with their tone. We could not call their office because he didn't allow me to call them. After these guys left and when my husband returned, he tried to reach their office but no answer. After some time the lady who talked with me previous day called me and I explained her and I told her that I'll report to BBB. She told me that if you report to BBB, we'll also respond saying that it's language (communication) issue. They are in customer service and they should be polite and specially while handling with women they should be more respectful and friendly.

Desired Settlement
They used harsh tone on my wife and when my 20 months daughter with her. They should be apologetic.

This job was never done for this customer because the customer tried to get additional services completed with the driver without paying the additional charges. She had received several emails of pre-work orders which stated the services that we we were coming out to do. The customer had haggled on the price the day before the move and deleted items and other services from off the original quote to get a cheaper rate. When she heard the rate she wanted then she ended up booking the job. But when the movers showed up she tried to get the same services done that she had previously cancelled for the same haggled rate. When the driver raised the rate back to the original rate she had refused to pay. We never told this customer that we would be showing up at 10am because we already had another job scheduled prior to her job. We had scheduled her move for an early afternoon slot which we arrived on time for. This customer claims that the driver had a harsh tone. The driver, which is an owner/operator, simply told the customer that there was no need to try to contact the secretary on a Sunday because the office was closed and he was in charge. Customer seemed not to like the fact that she couldn't go over the driver's authority. But the driver was in right to simply tell her like it is. It's not the driver's fought that the customer wants to hold her child in her arms and argue with him about not paying the bill. So the driver tells the customer the facts, that the extra services is not going to be done for free. Since the customer did not want to pay the complete price for services to be rendered the movers had no choice but to leave the job. The reason why the discounted price of $300 was pre-paid on Sat. 08/31/13 was because the company office is closed on Sundays. The customer was fully aware of this because that's why she had given her credit card for pre-payment. Now because the move job was not completed we had returned the whole $300 back to the credit card given. The bottom line is, that the customer did not want to pay the full amount of the bill for the services to be performed. If the driver was doing anything wrong then he would have waited to the end of the job to assess the extra fees instead of explaining it to her in the beginning. If the BBB needs any more info on this complaint then you may contact the owner/operator of the truck/crew which came out there. Mr. *** XXX-XXX-XXXX

Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Whoever responded to my issue they all lying. When we took this quotation from their office we spoke to some lady and not this person who responded and who came to my home. She accepted all for $300 dollars and when they came to home they asked extra charges with harsh tone and they never tried to talk with that lady who accepted for $300. If they are really genuine and correct they should allow us to talk with that lady who accepted for $300. 3 Guys came and they didn't know how to talk with a women. They are saying owner also accompanied during this trip but he doesn't know how to handle the situation. We understood from their talking is our job is small and they had accepted some other big job at the same time so they intentionally created problems so could avoid our job. I would say this company should never get any rating because the way they talked with women.

Final Business Response
Again, the move was not done because the customer did not want to pay for extra services. The driver may have been a little upset because his time was wasted and the customer did not want to pay for the extra services that she was trying to get done. There was no harm done in this process. The movers simply left and moving services were never started. For the record, the driver is an owner/operator of his crew but not the owner of the company. I, ***** ****, the owner had emailed the customer her copies of her quotes on several occasions. The customer tried to get the same services completed that was on her original quote for $377 with the movers onsite for the lower price of $300 with the lessor services. The company does not do free service and the customer did not want to pay. Case closed.
