Utilized LAN Construction for building of a garage. No supervision of man power on the job, with that, unnecessary labor hours billed. Man power on the job site could not keep the area clean of trash, and we did live at the residence. I questioned our last bill, as I could not come up with the same labor rate as I was being billed. Informed that it is company policy and he would not disclose that information. Had a warranty issue on roof for a previous job he did for me. Took a week and one half for it to be addressed and then didn't even address it thoroughly. Material was returned from the job site that was not used, inquired about a credit for the material that was returned, told I was only billed for material that was used on the job, how can you verify that? Again, as I utilized this company a little over a year ago, material that was returned, I received credit for it. If I would have known we would not see a credit, we shouldn't have returned it, or better yet, should have taken an inventory of all material that was brought to our job site. We were told that our log siding that was going on the garage would be cleaned, this was told to my husband verbally, log siding that is weathered never got cleaned, therefore they are darker then the other logs, makes the garage look like bap. My husband worked also on the job, and we don't even know how much was taken off of our bill for his time other than we were told we would not be billed for one day. I don't feel we received adequate service from LAN Construction and LAN Concrete. I feel the contractor should have addressed our billing concerns with more professionalism as a customer does have the right to question their bill, contractor very unprofessional, and I know that we will not utilize this company again.

Desired Settlement
I want proof as to what the hourly rate was charged for all labor and laborers that were on the job site including the contractor. I want a refund for the material that was returned on the job, as again how can you prove the material was or wasn't billed, again if I knew that ahead of time, we would have counted every piece of material, block, nail, etc... that came onto our property. I feel as a repeat customer of the contractor, he should have kept his word and cleaned my logs like I was told.

Business Response
The hourly rate paid or materials used are not an issue as the contract signed was not on time and material, but a total project cost for labor and material of construction projects.
The logs were cleaned, but logs are wood and therefore each piece can finish differently when stained.

Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The issue with the roof still remains unresolved, mold doesn't go away by air. No response regarding material that was returned, again only LAN is going to know if we were billed or not and we obviously are not going to get any further with that, so I feel he has taken advantage of the customer and took material back and then turned around and used on another job and billed someone else for material I paid for, which I guess means double dipping? I have pictures of when the garage was finished, and the logs were not cleaned, as my husband did the chinking and they came in a couple days later and sealed, so I have my husband's statement that they were not cleaned as well as he was there, so I guess that is his word against ours. I can obviously see this is not going to get us anywhere, but I certainly do hope that other people will utilize the BBB services and check into his business before using LAN because I know we will NEVER refer him to anyone and we are not the only people that has made that statement. If you would like to see the pictures that were taken the weekend the garage was complete I would be happy to submit as you can clearly see the logs were not cleaned as it was his words "they had been in his storage shed and got dirty".

Business Response
After discussing the roof and mold issues with professions in each field, the roof was fixed by adding a ridge vent and the mold was removed with a recommended mixture. Both jobs were done at no cost to the homeowmer.
On a contracted job, extra materials are brought to a job site to insure the job is complete. Extra material are just that and belong to the contractor.
As stated before, the logs were cleaned, but logs are wood and therefore each piece can finish differently when stained.

Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
What about the mold between the exterior of the roof and the interior of the ceiling. The only area he removed the mold from was the interior ceiling inside the house. Also, if he cleaned the logs, what did he clean them with. I don't show no cleaner on the material list I was provided?

Final Business Response
Regarding the ceiling, The issue was taken care of at the point of existence, on the interior of the home. Should there be no recurrence there, then according to people with experience in this field, the problem has been resolved.
