I just had my roof replaced by Reid’s roofing. They say they do things one way……. And actually do it another. I Do not recommend them!!!!! There were multiple OH&S issues. First, there was the issue of only ONE worker doing the ENTIRE roof, and without wearing a harness. What if this man fell off the roof?!? What if he fell and got injured or worse….and my CHILD was the one to find him?!?! Also, it took 2 days - which meant that we couldn’t use the yard because of the overhead work and the nails and debris that were out there. ….. With a full crew, our smaller house would have been done in a day. Also there were HUGE BANGS that shook the house and startled my child, my dog…… and me as well. I’m assuming bundles of shingles being dropped from one level to the lower one. ( only 1 roofer) We are not sure if this man was a subcontractor or part of their staff - regardless, no one ever came to check on him or his work. So you get 1 roofer doing your roof as fast as he can trying to beat the rain , then a “inspector” coming after it’s finished. Is there the proper number of nails per shingle?!?!?! , are all the barriers laid properly….….. Supposedly you can tell all that by a final inspection after all shingles are on the roof according to Reid’s roofing. Reid’s Roofing states the roof is good, BUT they also stated they use crews, harnesses, and inspect during work. WELL I GUESS NOT FOR US!! So if no other rules were followed, how are they so sure my roof was totally done right.?????? !!!!!!!!!! The malarkey shingles we put on have a huge nailing strip. To have all the low nails is not good. Maybe a bit of a Rush job. Then there was a lack of communication. We understand that delays happen - but send me emails, call me…. . The house eaves troughs , garage door , and some siding were left quite dirty when the work was done. We had also picked up quite a few nails. It took the “final inspection” (2 days later) to have things cleaned up. There were also a few other issues, like low nails, siding trim, and flashing not nailed down flat. So now we have multiple caulking spots on our brand new roof , and some that you can see from the front sidewalk. * **** ** *** *********** **** ** * ******** ********, and if Reid’s roofing did the same kind of job, we would not be doing business with them again. ( actually they would have been asked to leave for not following oh&s). My wife was determined to use Reid’s Roofing because they have so many accolades, and came highly recommended….. We are so disappointed. I guess you don’t always get what you pay for. All I know is what I’ve seen from this company and their good reviews Do Not match up!!! P.S. So I just had a meeting with ****. He seemed not to care about the above issues. He stated it was crazy he had to come out 4 times for this issue. Not once did they set a time with us….. wait once, and he was a hour early. I have worked at the ************ for 30 years in Maintenance…… and as **** stated “I don’t know roofing, and your getting a 10 year warranty “. However what I do know is a good contractor and in my honest opinion this is not one. I also talked to **** about the worker. Who is subcontracted. He had admitted about knowing about the unsafe work practices. Not a safe company!! Thank You All the Best and Take Care!!!!

    Reid's Roofing Ltd Response

    22/06/2021

Firstly we would like to thank you for the opportunity to do business with you and to thank you for your feedback. We would like to take the opportunity to respond to your concerns. 1. Yes we do use sub contractors to carry out a majority of our roof replacements with that said we do ensure their WCB is valid, all their health & safety tickets are up to date. We provide them with a health & safety orientation at the beginning of each season. We recently put in place a full time health & safety coordinator and are actively trying to address these concerns given that sub contracting is the norm for this industry. It is our goal to create the positive change within however these changes do not happen overnight. In the event we have a roofer that is by himself whether that is an in house technician or sub contractor, they are required to be in contact with the office or other staff member throughout the day. In this case, our sub contractor was in contact with our team member throughout the period of his work day. 2. Being that this was a active construction site, there is bound to be loud noises, debris and work carried out. We do have our installers knock on the door prior to commencing work to ensure the homeowner is aware that the work will begin. The day prior to install the primary contact was notified through out the day that the work would commence on the weekend, and that evening notified it would be Saturday morning. 3. At Reid’s roofing we do offer a 10 year workmanship warranty. This particular sub has worked with us for a long period of time. He is aware of our policies and procedures. We trust them to carry out the work as per our expectations in the work order provided. Sometimes this runs into a weekend job where all of our in house staff are not in the field working.; but available if needed. We still do a final inspection and check that the key components are carried out. This can be done after the roof is completed. The final inspection is carried out between 2-5 days after the initial install. The Health and Safety coordinator also takes note and pictures during the in-progress site inspections, although we do not get to ever job in the time that we would like to. This is a continued work in progress. 4. We always do our best to keep the homeowner informed as to when the roof replacement will carry out. The primary contact on the file was one member of the household, not both. This contact was kept in the know with the estimator, office administrator and office manager through the whole process. There was only one phone number and email provided to this customer file. 5. We are confident in our knowledge of the roofing system and although we do not approve of low nails and this is something that we bring up to our installers often; it does happen. We may miss a nail even during our final inspection; this does not void the 10-year workmanship warranty. It is our intention to maintain our reputation and even after the final inspection if a concern comes up after the fact we will come out for a courtesy call to ensure the customer is satisfied and maintain that relationship. Initially we will always give the homeowner the benefit of the doubt if a site visit is required and if it is determined during the site inspection that it is a non-reids issue; generally there is a diagnostics charge. Which is standard in all trades. As stated by the homeowner 4 visits, and a complimentary downpipe adjustment with no specific instructions from the homeowner. Which led to disappointment by the homeowner and led to another service call. This was included in the contract with no additional charge. With the regards to the deficiencies noted by the homeowner they were addressed and cared for. Lastly we would like to sincerely apologize that your experience was not everything that you hoped for and we as a company have much to take away from this. We have taken this experience to the table and will learn and improve for future customers. Your experience does not void all the other good reviews that homeowners have taken their own time to share their value and comfort in knowing that they can rely on us for many years to come. Again thank you for your feedback.
