            *** built a fence and deck at my new home in 2014. Fast forward to 2021 when I go to sell the home. I find out *** (KP Contracting) failed to pull a permit for the deck, but somehow managed to pull one for the fence. Subsequently I had to pay double the price to get the deck permit application and upon city inspection find out the deck stairs were built out of accordance with code and don’t meet compliance. I now have to rebuild the stairs in order to meet code. I contacted *** and he responded “sorry can’t take a look, closed for covid”. I would have expected a contractor to know to pull permits and the requirements to meet code.

            We rarely work outside the **************** & tell everyone up front we dont pull permits outside of ******** & the home owner is responsible. The permit that supposedly pulled for the fence by us i would like to see it. If you can show a permit for that fence under mine or my company name Ill refund you for all deck/fence permit costs.. Our reputation is very important to ******* wouldnt do anything to jeopardize that.Note: The work there was time sensitive & had to be completed quickly due to pets & for the deck stairs issue ,owner was notified about the stair height due to grading/final grade was not done at time of deck completion.***

            Work was not time sensitive at all. Never did timelines get imposed . I paid a lot of money for work that was done incorrectly and not to code. The long and short is that the work was done incorrectly and with corners cut. Had to have the stairs redone before we could sell the home. Basic level knowledge a contractor should have when doing a job. Having pets does not give pass to do work that doesnt meet the standard requirements to pass city code.
