I gave birth to my daughter in late 2021, and at the time we did not yet have the insurance information since I was forced to drop my insurance as I was told, since I was no longer going to be full time that I didn't qualify for the insurance. My husband's policy had been submitted, but we had not yet received the information for the policy. I received a bill for the birth for the total amount owed. After my husband gave the hospital our insurance information the bill we received showed that the insurance paid around $6,000 more than what the original bill was for. The reason I have not complained within the first year is that we are still trying to get the hospital to explain why the charges had changed when the insurance was involved. Their only explanation is that the insurance sets the prices. In fact, up until recently when I actually sent Community Medical Center one of the original statements I received from them, they had denied that such a statement ever existed. My opinion is that since the original bill was less than what the insurance paid, I should not owe anything. I had not submitted anything before, since I was up until the last few days, still attempting to contact them to get an explanation. They are now threatening with collections and still have not even explained the statement differences to me.
