Complaint: I am a customer of Yakima federal savings and loan & do my banking there.I went into the branch to cash 2 money orders that a friend had sent me from California to pay for the labor Im overseeing on her home.I was later contacted by a friend of my daughter saying that I was over paid by $ 200 I found it odd that her friends were trying to track me down but it turns out she knew the teller.I called the manager ****** ********** & she was quite rude insisting that I was overpaid & needed to pay the $200 back.I to my knowledge was not overpaid & gave the money envalope to the people doing the labor so would not have know otherwise.I have consulted an auttorny & was advised this was a teller mistake & I was not responsable but ****** feels differently & is not willing to accept that her teller is responsable.She last stated I would be sent to collection.

Desired Settlement: I want to be sure that I will not be sent to collection for somthing that was out of my control.

Business Response: Our documentation of this transaction indicates that the customer received $200 extra cash beyond the value of the Money Orders cashed which is considered "unjust enrichment."  Unjust enrichment is when one party is unjustly enriched at the expense of another party and an obligation of restitution arises, regardless of liabilty for wrongdoing.  The customer position is that she did not verify the currency she received before passing it on to another party.  The customer claims to not be able to contact the recipient of the cash.  Due to the circumstances we will make no addtional attempts to collect the funds from the customer and have notified them of such.

BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
