Complaint: I rented a place from this company in February 2011 and by March 2011, I was calling them to request that they fix my leaky roof. It was leaking above my kitchen and towards my light fixture. It eventually got so bad, it was like a giant bubble in the center of the room. They sent a repairman out, he poked a hole in the middle of the bubble and drained the water, leaving me a bigger mess than what I started with. Over time the leaks got worst, it spread throughout the next year all through the kitchen, then in my laundry area above my washer and dryer. This scared me cause of being electracuted while trying to do my laundry. I could not wash dishes without getting a shower from the leaky roof. I continued to complain, and they continued to ignore me. They finally called me and told me that there was no money to fix it yet they would help me find another place to live, but, I would still have to pay all the deposits again. I could not afford that, being a new widow, I was working two jobs just to make ends meet. My grandson then started having eye problems and I broke out with a horrendous rash. I called a friend over to check for mold in the attic since both of our doctors stated we had a mold allergy. He came in and found mold everywhere, including around my water pipes. I called up the property management several times and they refused to return my calls. I finally found a new place I could afford, called Resort Property management and told them I would be moved out by April 20th. Now they are trying to charge me for April's rent as well as May of 2012. I was already in my new home. I took pictures of the damage to my body from the serious outbreak of the rash, have documented eyewitness reports from many people regarding the mold and doctors statements. I was so stressed over our health that I could not focus on my job. I was so worried about having to live there, knowing the mold was spreading and making us sicker. This house is dangerous and should be condemned.

Desired Settlement: I am requesting my cleaning/security deposit refunded, and 6 months rent at $590 a month, as well as medical bills for myself and my grandson due to the mold which came to $ 842.00. I also beg that this house not be rented out again as it is full of mold, the roof is still in disrepair and the ceiling is bound to cave in on top of someone. I hate the idea of this company renting this place to a couple with small children. I know they don't care about anything but money, but I do!

Business Response:

In response to Ms. **********'s Complaints, we would offer the following:


     Attached you will find (9) work requests spanning the 12 months that she was a resident in the property. Attached you will also find (9) invoices documenting the work that was done, each and every time it was requested!!

We never ignored her or the problems she made us aware of. The house was inspected for "mold" several times and none was ever found. There was mildew in some areas and this was addressed with the tenant, but never any mold!!!

It did take more than one trip to find and fix the leaking problem, but it was fixed and we never heard anything more about it after April, 2011.

As you can see, she made numerous requests for other work to be done, from trimming trees, to fixing toilets, to turning off her heater, then turning it back on in the fall. We also replaced the water heater, when it failed! We weather stripped the house in the fall, as she requested!!!!

This is an old house and it is going to have maintenance issues, they are addressed as they come up and we are diligent about addressing these issues.

The owner of the house is doing some upgrades, with it vacant, but it is not being torn down.

Ms. **********, is trying to avoid paying what she rightfully owes on the rental of the property!!

For the sake of argument and in the interest of customer service, we will not pursue Ms. ********** for the balance owing on her rental, but we have no intention of refunding any rent or deposit in this matter.
