Complaint: This year we did not receive an advance notice appointment by mail as was routine in previous years. A service man came to our door and knocked with no prior call or notice. He proceeded to ask my wife if we wanted our sprinkler system turned on, she said yes. A couple days later we received a bill on Friday 4/20 for back-flow testing and sprinkler turn-on. My wife mentioned that the sprinkler guy was here a couple days earlier, likely on 4/18. I did not know until 4/20 that day they had been there, they would usually leave a bill in the front door.I noticed the system was still turned off at the power switch which told me they did not test the sprinkler system. I turned it on and found that the lines were sputtering due to air in the system still. I noticed a sprinkler head had blown off during last falls blow-out and was shooting water.I called R&J to repair (which is still under full warranty)and received a return call mid day 4/23 that they could not be back until Thursday 4/26 to repair the sprinkler. Over the last 5 years I've found this firm to be too much in a frenzy and hard charging in doing a fast, numbers oriented business and less about service quality.Regrettably, ***** ********
Desired Settlement: I request the missing sprinkler head be replaced ASAP since it should have been caught when it was turned on.I clearly was fully invoiced for service I did not receive.
Business Response: Advance notice post cards were mailed out to all customers on March 10. 2012. In addition, just like every other year, we do not turn on the Sprinkler Timer, that is up to the customer unless they call and ask us to do it. Just like every other year, we turn on the system at the main water valve and test it by opening up the valves manually (opening them by turning them by hand). In addition, bills have NEVER been left on the door in the spring, this happens ONLY in the FALL. Spring backflow tests have to be completed, faxed to the water district and a copy given to the customer, therefore mail is and always has been necessary in the spring. As I told the customer already, I am happy to send *** out to repair the head that was missed on Thursday. After this service, all service to this address will be discontinued since the warranty will be expired and the customer and our company obviously do not communicate well.
