Complaint: On or about Nov. 25 2011 I cancelled ALL of my policies with James Black Insurance after receiving several cancellation notices when my payment had been made. Not to mention the THOUSANDS of dollars I saved myself by changing agents. As of today I have yet to receive a refund. My new insurance lady ****** **** of ********* *********, contacted James Black on Tuesday January 24, 2012 and was promised I would have the refund no later than Friday January 27, 2012. My new home owners policy will cancel tomorrow due to non payment as it has taken 2 months already. When my new agent ****** ****, contacted them today, January 31, 2012, she was informed that the money had been in their possession for over a month and that the front office lady ****, had been on vacation, as **** stated, she was entitled to that vacation. Not my problem! She is not the only person in that office. I am facing bigger issues. I cancelled my homeowners policy with them at the same time I cancelled all of my other policies and they have yet to notify my old home owners insurance carrier of that cancellation, so they have not even begun to process my refund. This is completely unacceptable and part of the reason I no longer use them as my insurance agent.
Desired Settlement: I want the money over nighted to me immediately.
I looked into this issue about the refund. We have not had any of the customers money in our possession. When we found out about the delay, we requested that the policy be canceled with ******* ********* on 1/31/2012. I called them today and they will be mailing out the refund check directly to the *****’s residence today they assured me.
Sometimes as in this case we have no control how quickly a refund check is mailed by an insurance company.
BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
