Complaint: Foothills Lincoln Mazda ran my wife's and my credit dozens of times through dozens of banks, seriously and negatively affecting our respective credit scores. It's been nearly two months since we purchased our vehicle and we're still receiving letters from various banks thanking us for applying for a loan. We did not authorize for our credit to be checked so many times. Our scores before doing business with this dealership were 796 and 720 respectively. My current score is 694 and my wife's is 786. I do not understand why this business would do such a thing. As a young married couple we are trying to keep our credit score excellent, and this is a huge setback for our future financial plans. If we were informed beforehand by the employees that they will run our credit so many times in the span of a few hours, we would have rejected this option and would have financed the car through the bank of our own choosing.
Desired Settlement: I'm not looking for money. I simply want my credit score to improve. This dealership should be ashamed of themselves for their business practices.
On March 27th Foothills Lincoln Mazda sold a vehicle to ***** and **** *****. As you know they filed a complaint on April 26th, (30 days later) that stated "It's been nearly two month since we purchased our vehicle." The statement also said that we ran their credit dozens of times thru dozens of banks. We submitted their application for credit to a total of 4 financial institutions, (not dozens), to secure the best financing terms for them as we could get. I wish I could get into more detail, however privacy laws limit how much I can go over. I would encourage the customer to contact us, so we can go over any misunderstandings that they may have.
