Complaint: I've had an overall terrible experience purchasing a car from Autonation. It all seemed great at first, I was getting the car I wanted for around the price I could afford. They rushed me through the process and got me in the car that day. A week later, after already signing the lease and driving off the lot, I get calls threatening if I don't get into the dealership that day before close (within just 5 or 6 hours) to sign more paperwork (which I was never told about when I left with the car) I would have to bring back the car. In addition they told me I could put $2000 down that day and $1000 down in a month which worked well for me. When I wrote the check they lied and said it had to be dated that day but they wouldn't cash it for a month. Since then they have tried to run it every other day from the day I bought the car resulting in hundreds of dollars of fees for me. In short don't trust a word that comes out of the shady AutoNation dealers mouths they'll tell you any lie they can think of to get you to sign a contract and buy a car.

Desired Settlement: I'd like Autonation to pay for the hundreds in fees on my bank account that I was charged for them running the check over and over a month before they were even supposed to.

Business Response:

When ******* ******* purchased the vehicle there was some information that the bank required in order to finalize the loan.  We made many attempts to make contact with him in regards to getting his proof of income from his employer so we could give to the bank.  We did not receive any contact back from him for a long time and when he said he would give us the proof of income needed it would not happen in a timely manner.  By the time this was all straightened out the 29 day mark had come around and his check had been cashed.  After receiveing this BBB complaint I attempted to make contact with **** again and no success.   This last friday I was finally able to make contact with him and explained that if we did cash the check before we were supposed to I would refund him for any fees that was caused by the check.  I told him that I would need a copy of his bank statement showing the fees before I could refund him.  He said that would work out fine since he was coming in on Monday (yesterday) to pick up his plates and would ask for me when he got here and give me the bank statements.  I was informed by another staff member that he did stop in and get his plates but quickly left.  I have not heard from him since I called him on friday. 

BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
