Industry Tips

Anyone considering taking a course of instruction to prepare for
a job in a particular field should first determine from those
actually working in the field what kind of training is required
and what are the prospects of employment. Find out if the
school will help you find employment through its "placement
service". If so, determine the precentage of its students the
school has successfully placed in jobs. Remember, however, that
most schools, if not all, cannot guarantee their graduates will
obtain employment. Success depends not only on the merits of
the course of instruction but also on an individual's aptitude,
intelligence and diligence, and the state of the job market.
Check to see if the school is required to be, and is licensed by
your state department of education. Ask for the names and
addresses of former students who have recently completed the
course to learn of their experiences. If possible, visit the
school. Finally, all the terms of the enrollment agreement
should be clearly understood before signing a contract. Make
sure any oral promises are confirmed in writing.
