Most baldness is inherited, and although many kinds of soaps and creams have been touted as having miracle ingredients to make hair grow or retard its falling out, no product has been proven to do so. One drug, minoxidil, which was originally approved to treat hypertension, has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for stimulating hair growth on the crown of the head.
