Additional Notes

Complaint Category: Disputed warranty coverage and/or terms

Complaint: Large gate is warped. Fence is only 4 months old.
We had our fence put up the end of February/beginning of March. We loved the fence. Now four months later our large gate is ruined. The first time I called they were okay with fixing it. They SAID they made a report and someone would be calling us back soon as to when they would come fix it. A month went by with no call back. So I called again and they swore we had not called and there was no report. They made another report. Another month went by, I called again. I told the lady what was my issue AGAIN, and told her my name. From that point on she was very rude. Went on to tall me I needed to nail my boards back up and blah blah. The nails are not the issue. I just want my gate fixed. Easy as that.

Business' Initial Response
On March 5, 2012, Barbin Fence (we) invoiced ****** ****** for a fence we had installed at the end of February. The material was Treated Pine.

There is no warranty with this product.

The only guarantee is 90 days on gates for our workmanship. Our workmanship is not the problem. Warpage is the problem.

Due to the pressure treatment of this product, there will always be some warpage, however the treatment does protect the wood from rotting & termite infestation.

Warpage is not a product of poor workmanship. The customer states that the nails are not the issue. Our Secretary (the lady) simply suggested popping the nails with a hammer. This sometimes alleviates the problem with warpage.

We have always strived to be as accommodating as possible to all our customers regardless of the particular problem. This has helped us maintain our good standing in the community for over fifty (50) years.

For this we will be contacting this customer and will correct the problem with their large gate, however we cannot guarantee, the warpage will never occur again.

Once we have completed our repairs, we will consider the problem solved and this situation forever ended.

Thank you,

Larry Barbin
