Based on BBB files, this business has a BBB Rating of No Rating. The reason is as follows:
- BBB does not have sufficient information to issue a rating on this business.
Since January 2013, BBB has received three consumer complaints against Genuine Kicks or Genuinekickz, a company that sells expensive athletic shoes using the website http://ajdeals.bravesites.com. The complaints received by BBB allege either that the shoes that were ordered never arrived or that the shoes were counterfeit versions of what was ordered. All complainants state that once they attempted to contact the business to report the problems with their purchases, the previously responsive owner stopped answering emails.
BBB conducted an investigation of this business that included interviews with the complainants, a review of Genuine Kicks website content and contact with the business, made by posing as a potential customer. BBB findings on this business include:
Consumers who filed complaints with BBB report that after indicating that they want to purchase an item, they receive an e-mail from Andre Mays that directs them to make a payment to Genuinekickz; PO Box 210673; Auburn Hills, MI; 48321-0673.
On its company website, Genuine Kicks states the following:
“We recognize our shoes are remarkably cheaper. We have ties with underpaid workers in the official Nike factories overseas. The price of value is not the price of production. So basically, we do not buy our shoes directly from Nike Air Jordan; we buy them from their employees in the factories. We ship them to our factory and provide you with a discounted rate.”
Genuine Kicks website also provides the information that payment may only be made by via money order for the following reason:
“…our services cannot allow association with any merchant service, therefore the shoes that come directly from Nike's exploited workers are only to be sold for legal tender.”
The BBB, posing as a potential customer, contacted the company using a personal Gmail address and received responses immediately from Mr. Mays. Subsequently, the BBB emailed Mr. Mays through a BBB email address, to submit complaints and to request more information on the business. Mr. Mays was unresponsive to BBB's request for answers to customer complaints. The BBB has also submitted complaints to Mr. Mays by United States Postal Service (USPS certified mail sent to the P.O. Box address Mr. Mays provides in his correspondence to customers who make purchases. BBB received delivery receipts from the USPS, indicating that on June 14, 2013, Mr. Mays signed for BBB correspondence sent to him that included all consumer complaints and BBB's request for responses and resolution to these complaints. To date, Mr. Mays has provided no repsonse to any consumer complaint filed with BBB.
The BBB urges consumers to avoid doing business with Genuine Kicks. BBB also encourages any consumers who have done business with Genuine Kicks and were not satisfied with their purchase(s), to file a complaint with BBB at https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/get-started.
