Public encouraged to suggest businesses and nonprofits as award nominees
DENVER – Ethics in business and philanthropy are as vital as ever and the Better Business Bureau of Denver/Boulder is calling on the public to highlight exceptional organizations through its annual Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust. The BBB Torch Award illuminates the importance of trust in trade and philanthropy. In 2014, seven businesses and nonprofit organizations will be awarded in various categories honoring integrity and customer service.
“During the past 12 years since the program began, we have presented BBB Torch Awards to more than 20 local organizations that exemplify integrity in our marketplace,” said Su Hawk, president and CEO for the BBB of Denver/Boulder. “But it all starts with the nomination process, an innately rewarding journey regardless of the result.”
To qualify, organizations must have no unanswered BBB complaints, have been in operation for at least three years and have a physical location in the BBB of Denver/Boulder’s 12-county service area (Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Elbert, Gilpin, Jefferson, Washington and Yuma counties). Businesses must have a BBB rating of a B or higher, and nonprofit organizations must meet the BBB’s 20 Standards for Charity Accountability. BBB Accreditation is not required for qualification.
In 2013, BBB Torch Award winners included Integrity Electrical Solutions, Swingle Lawn, Tree & Landscape Care and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado.
