BBB outgrows its current space, sets to secure new space and sell existing building
DENVER – Jones Lang LaSalle has been chosen as the real estate partner for the BBB of Denver/Boulder and the BBB Foundation to find new space to accommodate the organizations’ current and future growth strategies for its staff, accredited businesses and local community.
The announcement follows a thorough analysis of existing space, outreach with BBB Accredited Businesses, two requests for proposal, interviews, and decisions made by a seven-person selection committee.
“The selection of a real estate partner to help us find new space and support the sale of our building is one of the most significant in our recent history, so we followed a rigorous process,” said Su Hawk, president/CEO for the BBB of Denver/Boulder and executive director of the BBB Foundation. “We selected Jones Lang LaSalle because of their extensive experience, focus on mission-based organizations, knowledge in the marketplace, and culture of ethics,” she added. “We also believe that working with one company will provide us with a seamless process to find new space while also selling our building to the best owner.”
The selection committee, chaired by Dave Brown of Key Bank, reviewed numerous proposals from BBB Accredited real estate firms and ultimately chose Jones Lang LaSalle for multiple reasons. To ensure the highest quality of standards, the BBB only accepted proposals from firms that belong to its network of nearly 8,000 BBB Accredited Businesses.
“It’s an honor to manage this exciting move for the BBB and the BBB Foundation because their missions align with our company’s values,” said Michael Deatly of Jones Lang LaSalle. “The BBB organizations have outgrown their current site and are seeking a new environment that encompasses a creative and synergistic professional workspace.”
Dave Brown, treasurer of the BBB Foundation Board, served as chairman of the 1020 Cherokee Street selection committee that also included: Brian Cook, Foundation chair; Chris Stengle, Foundation chair-elect; Trish Thomas, BBB chair; Carlos Pacheco, BBB chair-elect; Vicki Pine, BBB secretary and Hawk.
Located in the Golden Triangle neighborhood in Denver, major new building growth surrounds the BBB’s current location at 1020 Cherokee Street, which includes an 18-story residential tower directly across from the BBB building. The BBB’s future location will remain focused in the Denver Metro area so it can most efficiently accommodate its 12-county service area.
