Denver Dealer Doesn’t Deliver Titles on Sold Cars

DENVER – The Better Business Bureau of Denver/Boulder warns about ABC Auto Sales, a local dealership accused of selling cars and failing to deliver titles. The BBB has received a rash of complaints against the company since May – all from car buyers who say they’ve waited months for their vehicle’s title with no cooperation from the dealership.

“This is not a typical complaint we see against car dealers. These consumers cannot register their vehicles without the title and it is very concerning,” said Su Hawk, president and CEO for the BBB of Denver/Boulder.

ABC Auto Sales has not addressed these issues with the BBB as none of the complaints filed in 2013 have been answered. The company began business in 2003 and did not receive complaints of this nature until suddenly in May. The dealership earned an F rating with the BBB for failing to respond to complaints and the pattern observed. The BBB currently does not rate the company because it is no longer operating.

The BBB advises any consumer who purchased a car from ABC Auto Sales and hasn’t received their title to contact the Department of Revenue at (303) 205-5746.

When purchasing a car, the BBB encourages consumers to note the following:

· Get BBB Business Reviews on dealers first and find BBB Accredited dealers at

· Auto dealers are required by law to provide vehicle titles within 30 days.

· There is no automatic 72-hour right to rescind a vehicle purchase. Deposits are nonrefundable and cancellations are not an option unless specified in the sales contract.

· Understand all terms of any warranties purchase or offered, and make sure you know the details terms of “as-is” purchases.

· Get all verbal promises in writing and do not sign a contract that has any blank areas or vague terms.
