DENVER – The Better Business Bureau of Denver/Boulder announced today it received 154 total nominations for its annual BBB Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust. The number of nominations increased more than 38 percent from 2012. The increase was seen in the award’s small business category and was also a result of two new categories added this year for individuals.
In addition to small business, large business and nonprofit categories, the award now has Executive of Integrity and Employee of Integrity categories. Nominations for these new categories totaled 30. The complete list is available at denver.bbb.org/torch.
“To see so many nominees for the BBB Torch Awards signifies how much our marketplace values ethics and integrity,” said Su Hawk, president and CEO for the BBB of Denver/Boulder. “We are proud to expand the Torch Awards again this year to recognize exceptional individuals.”
The BBB Torch Awards program began locally in 2003 as a function of the BBB Foundation. In 2009, the competition evolved to offer the award to not just one business but to a large business, a small business and a nonprofit organization. The award is a tribute to those who exemplify an outstanding commitment to fair, honest and ethical practices.
At the BBB Torch Awards ceremony, the BBB Foundation’s annual $10,000 BBB Student of Integrity Scholarship is also awarded. The BBB Foundation is in its eighth year of awarding the scholarship.
The 2013 BBB Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust luncheon takes place on October 18, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center. Visit denver.bbb.org/torch for more information and to purchase tickets.
