Denver, CO – October 12, 2012 – Today, at the Hyatt Regency Convention Center Hotel in Denver, the BBB of Denver/Boulder and the BBB Foundation announced the winners of its tenth annual Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust.
Each organization went through a meticulous application process to illustrate its commitment to ethics and community leadership. The winners were each closely evaluated and chosen by an independent panel of judges. The judges looked at each applicant’s ethical standards and practices, long-standing reputation, marketing, advertising, management practices and training programs through an “above-and-beyond” microscope.
The nonprofit category winner is Outreach United Resource Center, Inc. This Longmont-based organization founded in 1986. Its mission is to help move people toward self-sufficiency by unifying community resources. “Thank you, BBB for shining the light on nonprofits for ethics,” said Edwina Salazar, executive director upon accepting the award.
The small business category winner is AAA Quality Air Duct & Carpet Cleaning, LLC. Based in Aurora, this is an industry leader in residential duct and carpet cleaning. It trains and certifies each technician and holds them to rigorous customer service standards. “Thank you to our clients for their confidence in our services,” said Christophe Samarou, owner upon accepting the award.
The large business category winner is Omni Financial Services. Located in Broomfield, the company has been in business for 25 years and employs over 150 people in the local area. “Our industry has gotten a black eye because of businesses that weren’t being ethical,” said Scott Kaplan, general manager when accepting the award. “As we continue to walk down this path, we hope everyone will follow.”
These organizations were honored with the Torch Award at a luncheon ceremony in front of an audience of approximately 400 fellow business and nonprofit colleagues.
