Today, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Denver, your BBB serving Denver/Boulder announced the winners of its seventh annual Torch Award for Marketplace Trust.
Each organization went through a meticulous application process to illustrate its commitment to ethics and community leadership. The winners were each closely evaluated and chosen by an independent panel of judges. The judges looked at each applicant’s ethical standards and practices, long-standing reputation, marketing, advertising, management practices and training programs through an “above-and-beyond” microscope.
The small business category winner is Mountain Crest Mortgage, a Colorado-based mortgage banker and broker since 1996. The company’s philosophy is, "To continue to perfect the entire loan process for our clients by delivering 35-plus years of combined experience to the closing table." Mountain Crest Mortgage has been a finalist for the Torch Award the last two years in a row.
The large business category winner is Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric, a company that has been providing the community with plumbing, drain cleaning, heating, cooling and electrical repair services for over 34 years. The company upholds its own extensive code of ethics focusing on its customers, employees, earnings and professional and social responsibility. The company was also a finalist for the Torch Award in 2008.
The winner of our new non-profit category is Family Tree, Inc. Since 1976, Family Tree has helped citizens of the community overcome child abuse, domestic violence and homelessness. Every year, this organization provides services to more than 31,000 people, including more than 25,000 nights of safe shelter to families and individuals who might otherwise be homeless.
These organizations were honored with the Torch Award at a luncheon ceremony in front of an audience of approximately 375 fellow business and non-profit leaders, military personnel and colleagues.
