I am filing a complaint against Nantucket Apartments, a subsidiary of AMC LLC, for failing to address a faulty air conditioning unit in my apartment (Unit 278) in a timely manner and refusing to reimburse me for the excessive utility expenses incurred as a result. Summary of Events: May – July 2023: My apartment's AC unit repeatedly malfunctioned, failing to cool my apartment despite multiple maintenance requests. Technicians sent by management insisted the AC worked properly, but it clearly did not. July 2, 2023: The AC unit was finally repaired. It was discovered that the unit had been improperly consuming natural gas, leading to abnormally high PG&E bills. September 2023: I emailed management a formal request for reimbursement of $505.66 for additional gas and electricity expenses during the AC malfunction. I provided detailed calculations and copies of my utility bills. September 2023 - March 2024: Despite repeated follow-ups in person and via email, I have not received a clear response from Nantucket Apartments. Management initially indicated they would reimburse me, but have since avoided direct communication, particularly with the property manager. Supporting Evidence: Email communication with Nantucket Apartments management, including my formal reimbursement request sent in September 2023. PG&E bills demonstrating a significant spike in natural gas usage during the months the AC malfunctioned. The gas usage returned to normal levels once the AC was repaired. Electricity bills showing increased consumption during the AC malfunction period. I request that the Better Business Bureau assist me in obtaining the following: Full reimbursement of $505.66 for the excessive utility charges directly caused by Nantucket Apartments' negligence in addressing the AC malfunction. A formal explanation and apology from Nantucket Apartments management regarding their lack of responsiveness and failure to resolve this issue in a timely manner. Nantucket Apartments' actions caused financial hardship and significant inconvenience. Their lack of communication and attempts to avoid responsibility demonstrate a disregard for tenant rights and well-being. Thank you for your assistance in mediating this dispute.
