We purchased a water heater from AAA Plumbing for $2,841.00 on 08/25/2012 (12 years ago). This included a 20 year warranty. On 02/04/24 our water heater started leaking. We immediately called AAA Plumbing and they said a technician would be out later that day. The technician did confirm that the heater needed to be replaced but not under warranty. He said upper management did not want to honor 20 year warrantees anymore. He talked to his manager multiple times on the phone, and they decided to void the warranty because we did not remove the anode rod every 3 years to inspect it. This was never mentioned to us, nor is it written in the terms and conditions of the warranty. We had AAA out in 2017 because the expansion tank they installed blew off the pipes causing our basement to be flooded and damaged. They also came out twice in 2018 for various reasons. Each invoice stated "Active 20 year warranty" so we had no charges. Not once did any technician tell us to inspect the anode rod or inspect it themselves while they were here. We have been calling AAA for 3 days to resolve this issue. We are promised a manager will call us back, but no one has. We would like this to be resolved asap since we have been without hot water since 02/04/24. My wife and I are seniors living on Social Security. She has disabilities and I have serious medical issues. We feel we are being taken advantage of.
