Complaint: Food and beverage servers are short-changing customers routinely. They return only paper money; not change. I purchased a beverage at the St Julien hotel bar, paid with cash, & the server brought the bills but not the change & walked off. Another bartender came around & I asked about my change, & he said, "it's only 19 cents, I'll give it to you if you want it." On another day that I was there, I was short-changed again. I then spoke on the phone with the hotel general manager & told him about it. I returned about 3 months later, which was a couple weeks ago, paid with cash, & was given back only the paper bills, being short-changed by 23 cents. After 3 incidents of being short-changed, it appears that short-changing is an accepted practice at this establishment, especially since the general manager did not do anything about it.

Desired Settlement: On the assumption that short-changing customers is non-lawful, I think the business should be contacted by the BBB or/and some authorities, to notify them that their business could be on probation, or closed for some period of time if one more incident of short-changing customers is reported. I did report this to the State fraud department, but they say that they do not take direct action, and suggested reporting to the BBB.
