Complaint: High pressure, misleading sales tactics disguised as "service". called company to get a GFI replaced as garage door opener now lacked power (company had previously installed the GFI in 2011. Electrician showed up as promised (no issues there) but was cocky, arrogant and condescending. Immediately asked to use my toilet where he went "********". I pointed out the failed GFI and he immediately quoted me a price ($***) that would "go down" if the problem was simple to fix. He immediately went into "sales mode" and tried to sell me a complete home surge protection unit and also asked about the "other" problems I was "having". I declined and asked that he just focus on fixing the current problem. I (not him)ended up locating the real issue (another failed GFI in the garage) while he was trying to escalate the problem IMO. He replaced the failed GFI and removed the other failed GFI (that they had previously installed and now told me that it wasn't "neccessary". It took him maybe 15 minutes. When I then asked the rep about the promised reduction, he refused. Again, his overall demeanor was arrogant, condescending, pushy and intimidating. The actual cost of this repair (to replace one GFI and remove another they had previously installed) and their "sales practices" strike me as fraud/deceptive consumer practice. See their other reviews on the internet which unfortunately I didn't consult beforehand.

Desired Settlement: significant reduction in price paid and promise to retrain their reps.

The refund will be processed 5/30/2014 and will take up to 10 business days to arrive to your home. Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 10, 2014/06/02) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Yes, but still find it disturbing they didn't acknowledge thier deceptive trade practices and promise to retrain reps. The fact that they agreed to refund such a significant amount speaks volumes.
