CIHAD is a long-term academic and social mentorship program for youth who live in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods and/or attend under performing schools in Metro Denver. At the Colorado I Have a Dream Foundation, we believe that every child deserves a quality education and every child has a fundamental right to reach his/hers highest potential.
This organization has been evaluated according to the 20 BBB Standards for Charity Accountability. This organization meets all those Standards and is a BBB Accredited Charity.
BBB Charity Seal Participation
Charities that meet the Standards for Charity Accountability are eligible to participate in BBB Wise Giving Alliance Charity Seal program. The seal, which can be displayed on the charity's web site and in printed materials, helps inform the public that the charity meets these standards. This organization participates in this program.
Over the last 25 years, CIHAD has developed and fine-tuned a 10-year "hands-on cohort model" for their participants who are affectionately call Dreamers. The CIHAD foundation indicates it has impacted the lives of 630 Dreamers through; mentoring, academic enrichment services, social-emotional supports, global cultural exploration activities, experiential learning, community service projects, internship and corporate networking experiences, collegiate coaching and tuition assistance for higher education. Dreamers are selected and adopted in the 3rd grade and are provided these services up and through post-secondary pursuits. CIHAD boasts Dreamer high school graduation rates that are double or triple the projections for comparable socio-economic youth in their neighborhoods. Approximately 90% of their Dreamers graduate from high school. Dreamers are eligible for a post-secondary scholarship and about 68% of our Dreamers have accessed the post-secondary scholarship and are pursuing a college degree or vocational school.
This organization is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It is eligible to receive contributions deductible as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes.
According to Colorado "I Have A Dream" Foundation, (CIHAD)'s Audited Financial Statements for the year ended December 31, 2012:

All charitable organizations soliciting contributions in Colorado -- with a few specific exceptions listed in the Charitable Solicitations Act at 6-16-104(6)(a)-(c), C.R.S. -- must submit an initial registration statement with the Secretary of State and receive a registration number. After the initial registration, annual registration statements must be renewed each year by the 5th day of the fifth month after the close of the organizationâ€™s fiscal year. In addition, all solicitation campaigns utilizing paid solicitors as defined at 6-16-103(7), C.R.S. must be listed on separate Solicitation Notices, which should be filed online by the paid solicitor.
