      I received a letter in January notifying me about unclaimed property of $693 deposited into a closed Comerica account in July 2020. This letter was sent as a final attempt to reissue an uncashed check with a due date of 2/21/2024 before being turned over to the state indicating I could call, step into a branch office or return the letter in the mail. I contacted Comerica with the letter in hand on 2/5/24, provided all required information as stated in the letter and was provided confirmation I would receive an email regarding the next steps. I was told everything was good to go, but to still step into a branch office. I checked my inbox right away, and received no email. Over the next few days after still receiving no email, I stepped in the branch office and found no help as they didn't have any information to give me. They insisted in order to receive help I would need the letter in hand, which I misplaced. I called the contact center back, spoke to a second agent who was able to provide more help stating the case was received, and the check was being issued and sent to my mailing address. It has now been a month and a half, and after calling to inquire a third time about my misplaced funds the first agent was super rude, spoke over me and gave me a faulty number. The fourth agent had me on hold for about an hour trying to help, which I appreciate, but insisted there was no where my call could be transferred to. She also gave me a third party number to dial. I have never had to dial any other number to speak about my funds before and am highly frustrated with my service and experience at this point. I shouldn't be getting the run around, I should be receiving the best experience from a company I bank with and put my trust in.

      Direct Express uses Comerica Bank. The BBB suggests that you call Comerica at (313) 222-**** to file a complaint against Direct Express.BUT, when you call Comerica at (313) 222-**** and try to do just that, the ONLY thing they offer to do is transfer you to Direct Express which is NOT helpful at ALL.I have ALREADY spent MORE than enough hours on the phone with rude Direct Express employees and supervisors that have done NOTHING to solve my ongoing problems. This was my reason for attempting to contact Comerica as suggested by the BBB, not to be transferred back to Direct Express.These companies should NOT be able to get away with ALL the things they get away with and be protected because they are a "Government Agency".Where's the Customer protection at?In ********************'s response to complaints on Direct Express's page, they state that "Cardholder satisfaction is important to us as evidenced by the program's 94% satisfaction rating."I do NOT believe that to be a true statement as evident in all of the ongoing complaints and reviews that are seen on the BBB's Direct Express page.Direct Express is a government program, that does not care about its clients.I recommend withdrawing ALL of your funds IMMEDIATELY from the Direct Express card, if you do not have a financial institution, establish one ASAP, if you need assistance, ask your "Disability Advocate" if they can assist you.Establish a bank account with a financial institution that is a trustworthy, reliable financial institution that actually cares about you as a customer and actually assists you with ANY problems, questions, or concerns that you are contacting them about.Set up Direct Deposit with a financial institution, that process *** take some time to complete until then, withdraw ALL funds from your Direct Express card and deposit them into your bank account.DO NOT TRANSFER your funds or you *** continue to experience problems with Direct Express and NO assistance from Comerica.
