The advisory committee is responsible for overseeing the development and growth of Women in Business Networking and maintain effective key community relationships. The committee is to ensure business growth through managing business development activities in accordance to WiBN’s strategy.
The WiBN advisory committee is a collection of individuals who bring unique knowledge and skills which augment the knowledge and skills of the formal board of directors in order to more effectively guide the organization. The advisory committee does not have formal authority to govern the organization, that is, the advisory committee cannot issue directives which must be followed. Rather, the advisory committee serves to make recommendations and/or provide key information and materials to the board of directors. The advisory committee plays an important public relations role as well as providing program staff with a fresh perspective on programmatic issues. A properly composed and structured advisory committee can be a tremendous complement to the effectiveness of the board of directors as it works to carry out a specific initiative.
The advisory committee is comprised of 40 members and meets on a bimonthly basis. Members serve for a 2 year term and can be reappointed. Members are selected by special committee and/or VP Leadership and Development. The advisory committee has a chair, selected by VP Leadership and Development. Meetings are held at Prime Time Party Rental from 3-5 p.m. Members are responsible for their own transportation to meetings. Refreshments are served at advisory committee meetings. The advisory committee meets as a body and, on occasion, forms subcommittees to explore issues in greater detail for consideration by the full advisory board. Recommendations are forwarded to the VP Leadership and Development.
