Local BBB Brings Home National Honor

November 21, 2013

DAYTON, OHIO, October 7, 2013— Recently, representatives from your Better Business Bureau of Dayton/Miami Valley, Inc. attended the Council of Better Business Bureaus’ Assembly of Better Business Bureaus in Austin, TX. The organization was honored with an award recognizing local operations efforts.

Today, 113 BBBs serve the U.S. and Canada. These BBBs are ranked against each other in regards to the percentage of resolved complaints, number of days to open complaints, number of days to close complaints and number of BBB Business Reviews accessed in ratio to the number of consumers in the service area between August 1, 2012 to July 31, 2013. These rankings were averaged to identify the winners in each of three categories based on number of Accredited Businesses in BBBs’ service areas. Your BBB was the winner of the Outstanding Operations Award in its size category.

This award is a reflection of this local BBB’s commitment to serving the community. For instance, your BBB locally has achieved a 91 percent complaint settlement rate during the 12 month timeframe of the award. It strives to ensure disputes are addressed promptly with cases closing within 22.5 days on average, far exceeding the national standard of less than 30 days. BBB staff also immediately handle any case brought to their attention by addressing the case the same day it’s received in most cases.

Jeff Siebenthaler, BBB board chair, says, “This Better Business Bureau has been and continues to be a national leader within the BBB system. We are fortunate to have this award-winning team in our market. The local team is passionate about helping people navigate the local marketplace safely and effectively. Team members strive for excellence in all they do, making this honor no surprise to the BBB board of directors. I’m confident they will continue to exceed all expectations now and into the future.”

John North, BBB president and CEO, says, “It was the highlight of our trip to the Assembly of Better Business Bureaus to be honored by our peers in the BBB system for the great work our organization is doing locally. This honor is a reflection of the organization’s effectiveness in our market. I assure you that our team will continue to strive to excel in all our efforts: operations, communications, technology, programs and services.”
