BBB Warns Of Local Company Allegedly Making Unauthorized Credit Card Charges

July 15, 2009

DAYTON, OH – June 9, 2009 - Your Better Business Bureau is issuing a consumer alert to warn you of a local advertising specialties company allegedly making unauthorized charges to credit cards.

Your BBB has received complaints from nine different states (Ohio, North Carolina, Idaho, Pennsylvania, California, Colorado, Washington, Massachusetts and Florida) about PPC Flash within just a few weeks and all of them reference unauthorized credit card charges. The charges vary in amounts from $6.87 to $12.08. All of the consumers report they did not have a prior business relationship with the company. Three of these complaints have been closed unanswered by your BBB due to lack of a response from the company. The others are currently pending as your Better Business Bureau is waiting for the company’s response.

The company’s Web site address is It has a (937) area code and appears to operate out of the 45458 zip code. Your BBB has not been able to determine the exact location of the company.

Consumers report they are unable to reach anyone at the company by phone or e-mail. When they try to call the company, they’ve either left a message and received no return call or the mailbox was full. On Monday, when your BBB tried to reach the company, the Web site was no longer active and the phone message said the mailbox is now full.

John North, BBB president and CEO, says, "The unauthorized charges made by PPC Flash may seem to be nominal. However, many scammers count on the fact that small charges like these would fly under most people’s radar. But, if just a few people pay the charges, it starts to add up and become profitable for the scammers."

John North continues, "This is a good example of why it’s important to always check your bank and credit card statements to be sure there are no unauthorized charges. Fortunately, credit card companies offer protection for many unauthorized credit card charges. This is also a good reminder to check companies out with your BBB by visiting or calling (937) 222-5825 or (800) 776-5301."

If you believe you’ve been charged incorrectly by PPC Flash, contact your credit card company, your Better Business Bureau and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office for assistance.
