DAYTON, OHIO, August 24, 2011 – The Advertising Review Council (ARC) recently rendered a decision advising Corbett Construction & Mold Remediation, LLC to substantiate claims made in its advertising. Specifically, the ARC requested the company substantiate its references to being an EPA Lead Safe Certified Firm and Certified Mold Remediator.

As a basic principle of your BBB’s Code of Advertising, advertisers bear the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising. Therefore, advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any claims made before publication and, upon request, present such substantiation promptly to an advertising medium or even your Better Business Bureau.

Therefore, a hearing with the ARC was scheduled to give the company the opportunity to present its case before a panel of advertising industry representatives.

The ARC’s decision indicated the company should substantiate its advertising claims.
