DAYTON, OHIO, October 7, 2009—Your Better Business Bureau will be promoting identity theft protection with Secure Your ID Day...

Saturday, October 17

10 a.m.-1 p.m.

National City Mortgage Co.

Corner of SR 741 & Lyons Rd., Miamisburg

This free community event allows you to bring boxes or bags of documents to be shredded and take home tips and resources needed to help protect yourself from identity theft. It’s the perfect opportunity to clean out your files at work and home. Credit card statements, old checks, IRS tax returns and any other sensitive material can be brought to the event to be shredded free. You don’t even have to get out of your car. Just drive through, BBB staff will unload your car, truck or trailer and you can watch it go right to the Confidential Material Destruction shredding trucks. Documents to be shredded will be recycled.

This is a unique effort to protect businesses and consumers from identity theft, emphasizing the importance of shredding documents and safeguarding personal information. Your BBB has shredded 17,000 pounds of material between its last two Secure Your ID Days. That’s nearly nine tons of material.

Your BBB will also be collecting canned goods at the event to aid Miami Valley residents in need over the holidays.

Come take advantage of this free service. For more information, visit www.bbb.org or call (937) 222-1534, ext. 2270.

Secure Your ID Day is sponsored nationally by the National Association for Information Destruction and National Foundation for Credit Counseling. It’s sponsored locally by Vectren Energy Delivery of Ohio, Glawe Awnings & Tents, the Dayton Business Journal and WHIO-TV.
