10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

This event features on-site document destruction by Confidential Material Destruction and distribution of ID theft prevention educational materials. You’re invited to attend the event and have sensitive documents (credit card statements, old checks, IRS tax returns, etc.) shredded free. Bring up to three boxes or bags of documents to be shredded and take home the tips and resources you need to help protect yourself from identity thieves. (Documents to be shredded should be removed from binders.) McGruff the Crime Dog will also make appearances at the top of each hour courtesy of the Miami Valley Crime Prevention Association.
The first BBB Secure Your ID Day event held nationwide earlier this year, yielded the largest single-day consumer turnout of this kind in national history. It was held in 54 communities across North America. Consumers and small business owners participated by bringing 500,000 pounds (250 tons) of sensitive documents to be securely destroyed. This event promises to be even larger.
Secure Your ID Day is brought to you with the support of your BBB’s national partners: Equifax, Incorporated, National Association of Information Destruction and ProQuo. Several local companies are also supporting the event: Advanced Background Check; Merchant Payment Services, Inc.; Voss Auto Network; WHIO-AM; WHIO-TV; and the Dayton Business Journal.
