It isn’t always easy to know what you should and shouldn’t say when advertising your financial planning services. To help, the Advertising Review Council, a joint project of The Greater Dayton Advertising Association (GDAA) and your Better Business Bureau, is sponsoring this special seminar for financial planning advertisers and the ad agencies or other professionals they work with. Legal experts from Sebaly + Dyer will discuss the "do’s" and "don’ts" of advertising financial planning services and answer any questions you may have. Secure Your ID Day

In a unique effort to protect businesses and consumers from identity theft, your BBB is hosting Secure Your ID Day. This event is a coordinated effort to educate the community about the importance of shredding confidential documents before throwing them away. Consumers and businesses are invited to attend the event and have documents, such as credit card statements, old checks and IRS tax forms shredded free by Confidential Material Destruction, Inc. Everyone is encouraged to bring up to three boxes to be shredded. Since education is the key to putting scams like identity theft out of business, this is an innovative event designed to emphasize the importance of shredding documents and safeguarding personal information. Your BBB and the event sponsors, such as Secure Check, WHIO-TV and WHIO-AM, hope to see you there.

Drug Free Workplace Program Training (DFWP)

Are you looking for a way to enhance safety in the workplace? In partnership with Sheakley Health and Safety Services, your BBB is happy to offer another opportunity to attend Drug Free Workplace Program Training (DFWP), a training seminar designed to help you develop a safer work environment. By implementing the Ohio BWC’s Drug Free Workplace Program (DFWP), this program can help you deter, detect and take corrective action related to substance use that affects workplace safety. The seminar includes an overview of the DFWP and covers drug testing, reasonable suspicion assessment, recognizing drug use and how to apply for, implement and carryout a DFWP. Upon program completion, your company could reduce your workers’ compensation premium by 10 to 20 percent. You will also receive a certificate for proof of attendance. For your program to be most effective, we recommend safety managers, supervisors and/or key management attend this supervisory training.
