In spring of 2021 I reached out to **** the owner of Unique home contractors about putting an addition onto my grandparents house. My husband and I with our three kids moved in with my grandparents to help with my grandpas progressing dementia and their overall declining health. At the time **** quoted me that the project would take about 6 months to put on about a 1000 ft addition and the cost was $208,000.00. We paid half up front and then made a payment plan for the rest. It is now april 2023 and the project is still not completed. He has a single man working part-time sporadically on our job. Also he poorly estimated the cost of several parts of the project already costing us 20,000 + in additional expenses which would have more acceptable if the quality of the work was not sub par in several areas. I have had to have them redo the entire back siding and now they have to redo another two walls because the siding pulled away from the windows. There are several other places inside were the quality of work is sub par. He also has mismanaged the funds for the project because our payments are due based upon completion of certain parts of the project and he harasses me for payments ahead of time stating that he cannot continue forward with my project unless I give him more money to keep it going. He asked me for payments early in person, but I do have emails that show me responding to that request to show that he did ask for payments early. We did not break ground until September of 2021 and our contract does not specify a length but that is still over a year and a half which is absurd. I just want him to actually finish the project correctly and in a timely manner so my kids can actually have bed rooms again.
