    January 24th, 2024 I visited Van Buren Dental for an occlusal guard. At that time I paid $289 and requested that the claim be run through my insurance. I contacted insurance February 23, 2024 prior to my second visit. My insurance covered 50% of my guard and I was responsible for $224. I returned to Van Buren Dental February 23 to pick up my guard and have the fit checked. As I checked in, I was notified that I had a remaining balance of $211. I was told I needed to speak to the billing manager. The billing manager told me I owed a total of $500 and refused to follow up with insurance. I asked to speak with someone else. Another employee attempted to help me but was interrupted by the billing manager who said, "She's not getting anything until she pays $500." I again pleaded with the manager to contact my insurance company and she again refused. The situation escalated and the billing manager lost her temper and snapped her fingers and pointed at the door and told me to get out. She also repeatedly said "call the police" to the other employees seated at the desks, and told me I could "leave or be escorted out by the police". I began crying and again pleading with her to call my insurance company and resolve this. I requested a full refund. The manager initially refused to a full refund citing lab fees. I explained that it didn't seem accurate for me to pay lab fees when I was being refused the service I paid for. The billing manager, Ashton, also repeatedly yelled at me and told me to "stop talking". She also violated my HIPPA rights. A full refund was eventually issued and I left. Later, Ashton call me and informed me that my guard was in fact covered 50% by insurance. I reminded her that she threatened me. Her response was, "we are not going to go there." I told her not to contact me again and hung up. February 26th I followed up with my insurance and learned that Van Buren had submitted my claim on January 24th and already been paid prior to my visit on the 23rd.

    My son went in to get a tooth pulled because it's causing him pain. They did xrays, told him all the things he needed that would cost over $3200, charged him $273 for today and didnt even pull the tooth. What a rip off.
