Resort Property Resale Service
(Note: These tips pertain to the industry cited above and do not necessarily track our experience with the company in whose report they appear. In particular, industry complaints referenced below are typical of the industry as a whole, but not necessarily every company in the industry.)
Some companies offer to help owners resell resort property. These companies charge a fee to list property for sale in various publications. Property owners should have a clear understanding of all terms of the company's contract before signing. You should understand that these companies offer only advertising services, and cannot guarantee that your property will sell. Beware of claims that buyers are on hand for your particular resort property. Only a licensed real estate broker can honestly say that a buyer is available. Real estate brokers do not charge an up-front fee, and are normally paid only after your property has been sold.
