Complaint
Installed a reverse osmosis filter incorrectly causing water to run constantly. Refused immediate correction and reimbursement. Disrespectful to women
*** ****** and 3 employees incorrectly installed a reverse osmosis water fiter on Saturday November 22, 2014. Water was noticed running out of the unit constantly. I turned the water off at the sink and the water kept flowing. I called *** ****** back on Wednesday November 26 informing him of my situation. He refused to make right until sometime Friday November 28. He refused to reimburse for any costs associated with his work. 6 days of constant water flowing from my sink. He blamed the the unit itself for the incident. Also I tested the pH of the tap water as well as the water from the filter with no observable difference. Reverse osmosis water should have a pH of 6.8 not 9.4 like the tap water. So the unit although appears to be installed isn't. It is just running strait from the tap.

Desired Settlement
I would like complete reimbursement for service as well as compensation for a weeks worth of running water.

Business Response
We installed the reverse osmosis system correctly on Saturday, November 22, 2014. Mrs. ******* did not contact me until the next Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. I spoke with Mr. ******* Wednesday morning at 8:00 a.m. and he agreed that coming out first thing on Friday was fine. Later that evening, Mrs. ******* called and immediately proceeded to make demands. I tried to explain to her that I had already made arrangements with her husband that morning. Mrs. ******* immediately informed me that whatever Mr. ******* had arranged was invalid and that only she made the decisions and he didn't have any say on this project. Mrs. ******* proceeded to speak to me in a very loud tone that was very disrespectful and I couldn't get a word in at all. She continued to speak over me and would not let me communicate to her the arrangements that were already made to come out on Friday morning. This continued for quite a while as Mrs. ******* was constantly yelling and making demands as well as cursing at me continuously. Mrs. ******* insisted that we had installed the unit incorrectly and would then not allow me to come out to investigate the problem. Mr. ******* had told me from the beginning that other plumbers had already been out there and attempted to install the system unsuccessfully. Mrs. ******* advised me that she had personal friends that were plumbers that were going to come out and install it correctly and that I would not be allowed to return. I requested to be present when these other plumber friends were trying to fix the supposed problem, but she refused. I feel that this claim is unwarranted due to the fact that I was unable to check the unit to see if there was a problem and therefore, there is no proof that it was installed incorrectly. I have installed many reverse osmosis systems on residential and large commercial applications and have never had any issues. I did return the money that Mrs. ******* paid, in full to her on Friday, November 28th. I made several attempts to speak with her since and she would never return my calls. Please understand that I did not return the money because I felt there was an issue, I returned it because I wanted to try and satisfy the customer.
Mrs. ******* was a very difficult client that made claims that my employees were illegal because they were Hispanic. My employees are all U.S. citizens and are very skilled and knowledgeable and I have worked with them for over 13 years. Mrs. ******* also said that she intended to ruin my reputation and my company by posting negative comments on the internet. My record with the BBB speaks for itself and I have never encountered a customer quite like this before. In response to her claim that I was disrespectful to women, I would like to say that if anyone was disrespectful it was her disrespecting me as well as Mr. *******, who was very friendly and cooperative and very much a gentleman.

Complaint
Tub drain was roughed in on the wrong side. Concrete from jackhammering was dumped in alley trash can.
I am a contractor and walked the job with ***. I informed him that we needed the tub drain relocated from a center drain to the left side of the opening so it would be an end drain. The guys were supposed to call me when they finished so I could come back to check the work but left without notifying me so when I came back at 5pm they were gone. They had jackhammered out the slab and located the drain on the right side instead of the left. There were two $10 shut offs on the supply lines and they took those with them. They also put the concrete from jackhammering into the customer's trash can. The customer complained to me that the trash can was so heavy that they were not able to roll it to the alley so I had to go do it for them. After calling *** to discuss all of this and request a partial credit back ($100 of a $600 invoice) he informed me that stuff happens in construction and you just have to move on to the next job. He said that he has lost plenty of money on jobs and that its just part of being in construction. He took no responsibility for the bad workmanship and seemed to imply that mistakes happen and nobody is responsible for making them right you just move on. My normal plumber was tied up so I used *** The Plumber b/c I was in a time crunch to get the work done. I ended up paying twice as much as I pay my guy and had issues with everything they touched. I would not recommend him unless you are looking to be overcharged and then have him not stand behind his work when he's done.

Desired Settlement
$100 credit for poor workmanship

Business Response
I am writing in response to complaint #XXXXXXXX. We had completed this job over six months ago. We took on the job because his plumber was not available and I was referred to him. We agreed on the price of $600.00, which was a discounted price. We jackhammered the floor for the relocation of the master tub drain. The location of the new drain had already been marked and water lines were also relocated. In reference to the two $10.00 shut off valves, we did not take them. All construction material had been thrown out and they could have possibly been in the debris. Those valves had to be replaced and we replaced them in the process. Concerning the $100.00 refund, I had already given him a discount from the original amount of $850.00 down to $600.00. Therefore, I do not feel that a refund is warranted. Regarding the construction material being placed in the customer's trash bin, this was the only container on site. It is the contractor's responsibility to provide a trash container for disposal of debris. Once the job was completed, the contractor and subcontractor were satisfied. He also told me at that time that he would use Joe the Plumber in the future so it comes as a surprise when he said that we gave poor workmanship. Joe the Plumber stands behind all their work and if there had been a problem, we would have corrected it at that time. My standing with the BBB is a great representation of that fact.
