Complaint
They recommended a floor for my kitchen that I am now finding out is not to get wet.
My husband and I went to First Floor and asked to see flooring for a kitchen. They showed us several and we choose a couple of them and took them home to see which looked best with the cabinets. We took the selections back and asked again if the one we chose was good for a kitchen. They said absolutely. It was installed in June and by August had started to split and buckle. I'm told it is because I mop with a damp mop and the floor is porous. Why would they sell me a porous floor that can't get wet for a kitchen where there will be spills? I depended on the experts to help with making the correct choose. I could have gone to an outlet and hired a fly by night group to install.

Desired Settlement
I would like for them to install a floor that is appropriate for a kitchen. Which is what I wanted in the first place.

The flooring which the customer selected cannot be damp or wet mopped. They make cleaners for laminate flooring
becanse of this. Laminate is a completely appropriate floor for the kitchen because of its ease in cleaning and the
fact that yon don't mop it. If you put it in any room and mop it you have the potential to have the floor fail.
Because of this I do not see a valid claim.
Thanks,

Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I was never told not to damp mop. The floor being install in June and the few possible damp mopping that was done between then and August does not explain the buckling starting that quickly. Anything spilling on the floor would have been more water than I used mopping. I'm still not totally sure that the water is the cause of the buckling, but think it could possibly be the insulation.
