Joseph Schmelzle Elected to National Board of Council of Better Business Bureaus

Arlington, VA, December 23, 2013 – Joseph W. Schmelzle, senior director of agency development and customer services for UniGroup, Inc., a relocation and moving service, was recently elected to the national Board of Directors of the Council of Better Business Bureaus (CBBB).  Schmelzle is also Board chair of BBB of E. Missouri and S. Illinois, based in St. Louis.

CBBB, the umbrella organization for 113 local, independent BBBs across the United States and Canada, is dedicated to fostering honest and responsive relationships between businesses and consumers, instilling consumer confidence and contributing to a trustworthy marketplace for all.

In his current position, Schmelzle oversees the organization’s national service center, as well as supervises the Mayflower and United Van Line agents.  Prior to his current position, he held progressively responsible positions within the company, including corporate sales manager, director of operations, and director of agency development.

Mr. Schmelzle is very active within the community.  In addition to his position as board chair, he currently serves on BBB St. Louis’s Budget Committee, Executive Committee, Standards and Compliance Committee and the TORCH Awards Committee.  He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Humane Society and volunteers for the Rock and Roll Marathon that comes to St. Louis each year.
