BBB Warning: NuWave Ovens

January 23, 2014

Consumers from all 50 states and three Canadian provinces have turned to Better Business Bureau with complaints about Hearthware, Inc. and its product, the NuWave Oven, which is typically sold through infomercials. An investigation was done by BBB serving Chicago and Northern Illinois, where the company is headquartered.

In the past three years, 1,291 complaints have been filed against this company with the BBB. A review of consumer complaints shows a pattern of allegations and complaints, and the company currently has an “F” rating with BBB. The biggest complaint is about huge shipping and processing fees tacked on to supposedly “free” products. The BBB detected a pattern of complaints and contacted the company repeatedly, but emails and phone calls unanswered.
