Everyone at some point in their lives has been summoned for jury duty but thieves use the jury summons to steal your identity, according Newswatch 12
Here’s how it works: the thieve calls you claiming that you missed jury duty. To make sure he is calling the right person, he needs your personal information for the verification process.
This is not the way jury summons works. Jury duty is by random selection and once you are selected, a summons is mailed to your house and you are required to fill out a questionnaire form and mail it back. No one calls asking for your birth date or social security number.
The next time you are hit with a phone call just say, "I would like to call my local government authority and find out if there's any truth to the matter."
