We used Meant to Be Movers on several occasions, not to mention we were intentional about referring them as I am a Realtor. Our first experience approximately 4 years ago was awesome. Our second experience, 2 years ago, was HORRIBLE on many levels. We’ve waited some time to write this review as we were hoping these people would’ve done the right thing and owned up to what their employees did. No gesture on their part was ever made to make this situation right. Significant jewelry (over 10k of value) was stolen, furniture broken (they hid this from us and tried to Mickey Mouse a repair themselves), many items were not recovered and are still missing, many boxes had broken items, some of which were insignificant in the scheme of life, but some of which were irreplaceable. We were told that they didn’t care about my referrals and their insurance would only give us $40. We were never, on any occasion, offered additional insurance. We were barely given any paperwork. They are extremely disorganized. We were told “I should’ve known better, because I’m a realtor”. Excuse me, their employees went into a closet that was off limits, took my jewelry box and loaded it on their truck. It was the only item removed from that closet. They were rough and shoved our belongings into trucks and their warehouse. Whatever may have been done to “help” us during a difficult time was negated by the lack of care and professionalism displayed by them and their company. We didn’t check other companies when we initially hired them as we wanted to help them with their business. We had a relationship as we attend the same church. We paid them in excess of $10k for a horrible unprofessional experience and over $20k total, not to mention referring clients and colleagues for several years. We are telling people privately as it comes up not to use this company. If you are considering using this company, please do not!Review from Jo F.

I was moving from East Hartford to Manchester and wanted to go with a local company. Upon calling Meant2Be movers, I was greeted with the most welcoming customer service and was given an accurate quote after my estimate. All aspects of the move was wonderful and everything went smoothly. The three gentleman that came to move my stuff where so friendly and calmed my nerves with humor. I will 110% use them again if I need to move in future!Review from MIRIAM D

I'm so sorry that you feel this happened this way. I do our estimates. I'm also the owner. Your dates for moving was one of our blackout dates, we already knew there was no truck space available for you. I was told you were made aware and the appointment was canceled. Again sorry for the mix up with communication.Review from J R.

I was given an estimate for $4919.59 and charged $5660.10. Why does this matter? Because the amount on the estimate was changed after my stuff was delivered. When Susan L****** the owner, came to my home to perform the evaluation for which the estimate would be based on, she told me with her own words that I would only be responsible for the final amount stated on the estimate. And should the weight be less than what she estimated thereby making the bill less, then I would only have to pay for the lesser amount. It is also important to note that during the month before the move, I liquidated a bunch of stuff and when Susan came to do the estimate, she factored in a bunch (min. 10 big boxes and a bunch of little ones) of empty boxes that I had stored in my storage room. Therefore, the final billing amount should have come out to less than what was stated on the estimate. Furthermore, the driver does not have respect for other people's property. He and the team he hired did a horrible stacking job, placing light boxes on the bottom and turning boxes upside and on their sides. I have a number of damaged boxes, boxes with leakage, and broken items. They damaged a valuable lamp handmade by an artist and an iMac computer screen is shattered. He also ran into the fence at the storage facility damaging it beyond repair. I trusted these people to be professionals of integrity and skill. However, I was misled with the image they portrayed. I am disappointed overall with my experience. So far they have ignored my efforts to resolve this. Should Susan make efforts to work this out, I will update this review.Meant2Be Movers, LLC Response

This was a non binding estimate. When we don't haul something ourselves or if there is a change to my original estimate I never give a binding estimate. This order was changed many times...dates and destinations. We accommodated every request and phone call made by ****** She actually was charged her original estimated pricing! That turned out to be her actuals! We have referred her to our corporate office phone number for her after care and driver concerns but she still continues to want something more from us. I believe she was given a job well done from us. Moving is stressful and she required alot of hand holding while she changed her mind throughout the last 5 months. Not sure what more I can do for here.i hope the beginning of happily ever happens for her soon. Corporate will take care of the fence and driver issues but she has to contact them as we have told her.Customer Response

Susan L****** Lied about unbinding meaning that the estimated amount is the cap and any weight less than stated on the estimate would result in a change to the final cost. Lied about used boxes being free, because I was charged for used boxes and packing paper. They did make up for this by giving me a new box for my computer and additional packing paper at a later date. Lied about my changing dates and destinations many times. In Oct 2020 Susan L****** the owner, came over for the first time and gave me an estimate for a potential move to ****** which came out to $5660. I never acted on that estimate. The end. Then in February I asked for an updated estimate to *** ****** which came to $4,919.59. I booked this move and cancelled it the very next day. This was the one and only time I canceled the move. I asked if there was a cancellation fee and that I would be happy to pay it. They did not respond, as usual, so I wrote Susan a thank you card with $100 cash enclosed delivered it in person. Kathy the office manager runs the whole show and even works from home after hours. Her kindness and diligence to her job is exploited by employers that take no pride in the service they offer and take no responsibility for any facet of it. Their estimate is generated from Wheaton Movers database and no where is the name Meant2Be Movers stated. They put the burden of all damages on Wheaton and take advantage of customers by abusing their power in being able to modify estimates, and charge whatever amount they want to customer credit cards. I did not received a final bill and was simply billed whatever amount they chose and then they changed the estimate in the database to match. Meant2Be Movers are the ones that need their hands held. Since re-opening my move in February, I called repeatedly w no return calls. I finally went to their office in person, which is a dive located in the one of the rattiest parts of **** ********* This is the same day I left a card w $100 for Susan. Suddenly they were more attentive and responsive. By “they” I mean Kathy, not Susan who hides behind her computer and Kathy. Susan called me one time - when I was booking the move the second time. Money is all she cares about. Customer service is not a priority to Susan L****** All other return calls were made by Kathy and I have spoken to Susan 3 times in total since my first contact with them in Oct 2020. Susan L***** ** ***** ***** and will reap that which she sows. This is what gives me solace. What goes around, comes around.
